The Music Story
Imagine arriving home from work, and walking in the front door. You press a keypad button located just inside the front door, your favourite CD or Radio Station starts playing in the living room. 10 minutes later, your children arrive home and go to their bedrooms where they have similar keypads. Each choose to access their specific playlists from a music server hidden away. Your spouse then arrives home, iPod in hand, puts the iPod into the in-wall docking unit, and the music continues where it left off in the car.
The Movie Story
On the other hand, it may be a Saturday night, you want to settle down and watch the hockey game or a movie on your beautiful flat panel screen or projector, and surround sound system (which can’t be seen, as the equipment is hidden, and the speakers are in-wall or in-ceiling). Simply press the TV button on your remote control, and select the appropriate channel from your Favourite Channel list on the remote control, your TV and sound system will spring to life, broadcasting your favourite shows in High Definition. Or, press the BluRay button and your system will start up whatever disc is in the player. On the other hand, you could have a DVD server, with all of your DVD covers displayed on the television for you to browse and choose. Never leave the comfort of your couch to find a DVD again.
The Lighting and Integration Story
Do you hate coming home to a dark house? Or waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and getting blinded by the bathroom light, after you’ve already tripped over something on the bedroom floor? Lighting control is the answer.
Have all bedroom lights turn on to only 35% if the time is between 11 pm and 8 am. Have a keypad at your bedside to activate a path of light to your kitchen for that midnight snack, very dim, so not to wake others in the room. And if you’re getting home late to an empty house, a keypad in the garage or even on your remote garage door opener, turning on your main hall or foyer light to 50%, and your exterior lights, if they are not already on. The possibilities are endless. Get that perfect lighting for dinner, and it will always be there with a touch of the keypad. Forgot to turn off the lights in the basement? No problem! Push the “Goodnight” button on your bedside keypad and it’s taken care of for you.
We can also integrate drapery control. If you have a window that casts a glare on your television, wouldn’t it be great if the drapes on that window were to close when the television turns on? Or if the temperature in the room reaches a certain level, the drapes will close, blocking out the heat and harmful UV rays from the room?
With the concerns regarding our environment, everyone is trying to be more “Green”. Lighting control is the only Green product that makes your life more convenient, and at the same time, makes your living space a better place to be! Having your lights set to 90% brightness saves you 10% on your electricity bill, and makes your light bulbs last 20 times longer. Your helping the environment (less bulbs in landfills) and your pocket book (not purchasing new bulbs as often)!
Lastly, lighting control lets you get rid of ugly “wall acne” — You know the bank of 4 or 5 light switches on the wall. Get that trimmed down to a single fully customizable touchpad. The faceplates and touchpad can be changed to virtually any colour or design to match the environment they are in. And if you change the paint colour down the road, the touchpad and wall plate can be changed out as well, with ease.
